Although growing up it may have seemed like my Dad and I didn’t have much in common, but the things that influenced me the most were directly related to him.
My love for the Lakers began when he took me to my first game at the Forum where I saw Magic play in person.
My love for martial arts and action flicks was based on the Bruce Lee flicks he introduced me to when I was kid.
Because of him, I was able to make my #1 overseas country of choice to visit, Italy, my first overseas trip! I will never forget that experience.
He taught me how to dribble a basketball, do layups, and shoot the 3.
Just watching and listening to him, I understood how hard work pays off.
I don’t know how many Father’s his age can keep up with the latest Hip-hop and R&B artists like him and can actually quote lines from the songs. I hope I’m half as cool and look half as young as him when I do reach his age.
Love ya Dad!
This AT&T commercial not only takes me back to some childhood memories but it also reminds me of the joy and freedom that comes with expressing creativity.
The creativity that exists inside you can be projected to entertain, enlighten, and inspire all those around you. All you have to do is release it and share it!
Rethink possible and the impossible can become reality!
When passion and expression lose traction, action by a new faction is the reaction, reignite the fight once won within, with voice and the pen, ascend with the love for creation and once again feel that missing sensation that tells you what you are here to do, find that within and to yourself and others you will always be true.
Guru was one of the reasons I grabbed a pen and pad in the late 80s and started expressing my thoughts through rhymes.
His smooth and laid back delivery was a stable in Hip-hop music for almost 20 years. With his partner, DJ Premiere, Gang Starr was considered to be one of the best Hip-hop groups ever.
Rest in peace Keith Elam. You will live on through all the great music you created and intelligent rhymes that helped make me the writer I am today.
Here are just a few of the many classics blessed by Guru…
“Pursue your dreams and don’t follow others, Others have their own path to take, Take your time and learn yourself, Yourself, you will eventually find.” – Kristopher J. Evans

Any kind of depression is balanced with an audio expression, the day’s baggage I tote is lifted with a musical note, the stress in the mental is relieved by an instrumental… ..Music and me.
